A Guitar Made Of Clay?

Every once in a while, one come across something so extraordinarily out of place (and sometimes out of sorts) that immediately makes them say: "NOW I'VE SEEN EVERYTHING!!!" It just so happens that the last time this moment of realization happened to me was when I saw this video posted by StewMac that showcased a rare ceramic guitar prototype from the mid sixties. Yes, you read that right--- it's a CERAMIC guitar; as in... made out of clay?

Does it sound crazy? Well, considering the many alternatives to a guitar body made out of traditional wood (i.e. acrylic, 3D print material, cardboard - remember that one?) that have come out in the history of guitar making, it's not entirely too surprising. What is a little surprising, however, is that this guitar only got as far as being a patent applied for prototype and only a very small quantity of these guitars was ever produced. Sadly, the concept just didn't take off for Jake Kindlesparker, who was the brilliant designer behind this idea. You can find out more about this guitar as well as the method used to produce it in the videos below...
